O. Mike Hamer

Orrin Hamer is in his second year with the Bethune-Cookman Track and Field program.

Hamer previously served as Head Coach at Paine College in Augusta, Ga.

During his tenure, the women’s cross country team improved from a ninth place conference finish in 2014 to third in 2016.  The outdoor team produced champions in 2016 before LaKeeba Redfield was named Women’s Field Most Valuable Performer in 2017. Redfield and Jalen Tyson were named Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women and Man of the Year in 2017.

 The 2018 team featured a conference champion, 13 all conference performers and two NCAA Division II national provision qualifiers.

At Albany State as an assistant coach, Hamer helped produce five National Champions, 27 All Americans, 38 Conference Champions, 146 All SIAC team awards, six SIAC Athletes of the Year, four Men’s Track and Field Athletes of the Year, three Men’s Field Event Athletes of the Year, four Women’s Track athletes of the year, two Women’s Field Event Athletes of the Year, and six SIAC Championships MVP.

On the high school level, Hamer worked at Evans and Jones high schools in Orlando, Fla. He was the CEO for the Explosive Training Group, which provided elite personal training services to over 250 at-risk youth over a five-year period.  Over 85 students went on to attend college.

He is a 2007 graduate of Albany State University.
