Billy Parker

Billy Parker

Billy Parker brings extensive experience at the collegiate and professional levels to the Bethune-Cookman football staff, having coached across multiple defensive positions and special teams units throughout his career.

Most recently, Parker served as defensive coordinator at Texas Southern University from 2024–25, where he helped guide the program to its first winning season since 2000. During his tenure, he developed All-SWAC First Team cornerback Mikado Hinson.

Prior to Texas Southern, Parker coached safeties at William & Mary in 2023, helping lead one of the top defensive units in the country. The Tribe ranked first in the Colonial Athletic Association in both pass defense and scoring defense, while finishing fourth nationally in pass defense. He also mentored a pair of All-CAA honorees in Malcolm Spencer and Marcus Barnes.

Parker has also held multiple roles at Virginia Military Institute, where he served as assistant head coach, recruiting coordinator, and coached both running backs and cornerbacks. He spent the 2020 season at South Carolina State as tight ends coach.

His professional experience includes time in the XFL with the Tampa Bay Vipers, where he worked with the defensive backs and helped produce one of the league’s top defensive units, along with coaching stops in the CFL with the Montreal Alouettes and in arena football with the Richmond Raiders and Richmond Revolution.

Parker also participated in the prestigious NFL Bill Walsh Minority Coaching Fellowship with the Indianapolis Colts in 2019.

A former professional defensive back, Parker played in the NFL with the Carolina Panthers and Miami Dolphins, in the CFL with the Montreal Alouettes, and in the Arena Football League with the New York Dragons. He played collegiately at William & Mary, where he earned a degree in sociology.
