Bethune-Cookman University Vice President for Athletics Reggie Theus announced on Wednesday, April 1, 2026 the appointment of Demetria Frank as Head Women's Basketball Coach. Frank becomes the eighth head coach in program history.
Frank returns to Daytona Beach after most recently serving as Associate Head Coach at George Mason University, where she played a key role in the program's continued growth under head coach Vanessa Blair-Lewis. Promoted to associate head coach in 2025, Frank helped lead all aspects of the program, including player development, recruiting, scouting, and operations.
A former standout student-athlete for the Wildcats from 2007–12, Frank etched her name among the program's all-time greats. She graduated as the program's second all-time leading scorer with 1,567 points and still holds career records for free throws made (854) and steals (422). Her defensive prowess placed her among the nation's elite, leading NCAA Division I in steals during the 2012 season at 4.25 per game while earning All-MEAC honors twice.
Frank began her coaching career under Blair-Lewis at Bethune-Cookman, helping guide the Wildcats through one of the most successful stretches in program history. During her tenure on staff, B-CU recorded three 21-win seasons, captured two MEAC regular season championships, and secured the program's first MEAC Tournament title and NCAA Tournament appearance in 2019.
Following her time in Daytona Beach, Frank continued her rise at George Mason, where she was instrumental in building a competitive program culture while mentoring student-athletes on and off the court. In 2024, she was selected to attend the prestigious Next Up Coaches Conference, designed to support the advancement of top minority coaching talent.
Since arriving at George Mason in 2021, Frank helped guide one of the most dramatic program turnarounds in the country. The Patriots posted three consecutive 20-win seasons, highlighted by a historic 27–6 campaign in 2024-25 that marked the winningest season in program history. That year, George Mason captured its first-ever Atlantic 10 Tournament championship and earned the program's first NCAA Tournament appearance.
The success continued into the following season, as the Patriots recorded a 23–10 mark and claimed a share of the Atlantic 10 regular season title while advancing to postseason play once again. Over her tenure, Frank played a key role in developing a championship culture, contributing to postseason appearances, conference success, and the elevation of George Mason into a consistent contender in the Atlantic 10.
A native of Miami, Florida, Frank starred at Miami Jackson High School, earning four varsity letters in basketball and three in track while helping lead her team to multiple conference championships. She later played professionally in Australia and Puerto Rico before transitioning into coaching.
