Peter Vazquez enters his role as a Graduate Assistant with the Bethune-Cookman baseball program following a playing career with the Wildcats and additional collegiate experience at Chipola College.
As a junior in 2024 at Bethune-Cookman, Vazquez appeared in 33 games with 24 starts, posting a .224 batting average with 19 hits and nine RBI. He showed strong on-base ability with 13 walks and a .337 on-base percentage, while adding two doubles and scoring 10 runs. Defensively, he recorded a .904 fielding percentage and contributed to five double plays.
Prior to returning to B-CU, Vazquez spent time at Chipola College, where he played in 43 games and hit .188 with six RBI, 13 runs scored, a double, 16 walks, and two stolen bases. He posted a .953 fielding percentage during his time there.
A native of Guayama, Puerto Rico, Vazquez attended Leadership Christian Academy under head coach Jaime Munoz, helping lead the program to three state championships. He was a two-time all-star selection and three-time all-conference honoree. He also graduated with honors and was ranked as the sixth overall prospect in Puerto Rico and the third-ranked shortstop nationally by Perfect Game in 2021.
Vazquez also competed in travel baseball with Potros Las Lomas under head coach Cheo Morales.
Off the field, he earned his Bachelor's degree in Health and Exercise Science. He is the son of Pedro Vazquez and Luz A. Torres Rodriguez and has two sisters, Yara E. Rolon Torres and Natalie R. Vazquez, both of whom compete at the collegiate level in soccer and volleyball, respectively. His father, Pedro Vazquez, played professionally in the Kansas City Royals organization. He began playing baseball at the age of four.
