DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Bethune-Cookman Volleyball team downed Norfolk State in three sets, Monday night at Moore Gymnasium. The win moves B-CU to 2-0 in conference and makes three consecutive wins for the Lady Wildcats.
The Wildcats came out firing in the first set and built a lead. They closed out NSU 25-18. B-CU had a slow start in the second set; matching scores with NSU, before ending it 25-22. In the third set, B-CU jumped out to quick lead, 10-4, but NSU came fighting back. B-CU held off a late rally to win 25-23 and down NSU 3-0
Norfolk State's Breanna Allums led all players with 13 kills on the match. Setter Nicole Kessner finished with 26 assists, while Jourdan Ellison had 10 digs.
Leading the charge for Bethune-Cookman was Danielle Goodrum with 11 kills, but Chelle Ticeson (8 kills) and Kaiyana Johnson (9 kills) were close behind. Daryl Rodriguez had 29 assists for the match. The team as a whole did its part in getting digs.
Bethune-Cookman returns to the court Friday, Oct. 10, when they travel to North Carolina A & T. Game time is set at 4:00 p.m.
