Appalachian State proved to be too much for the Wildcats in men's tennis action on Tuesday afternoon as they swept a 7-0 decision over Bethune-Cookman in Daytona Beach, Fla. at the City Island Tennis Complex.
The Mountaineers (4-4) started off the match by taking two-of-three from the Wildcats in the doubles competition to take the early 1-0 lead.
B-CU got solid production from the team of Jerome Ward and Kristofer Martin as they collected the only win at the No. 3 doubles position. They defeated the team of Bobby Lake and David Doverspike, 8-5.
In singles play, the Mountaineers swept through the Wildcats (2-7) as B-CU was just unable to handle the pressure of the visitors from Boone, N.C.
All six Wildcat performers were beaten in straight sets.
Senior Jerome Ward played tough in a 6-3, 6-2 loss at the No. 5 position to Peter Jacobs. Classmate Stefan James fell in a close match at the No. 3 position to ASU's Trent Constance on scores of 6-3, 6-2.
Bethune-Cookman will take a few days off before hosting the United State Naval Academy on Thursday, Mar. 13 at 1 p.m. back at the City Island Tennis Complex.
