FAMU Defeats Wildcats in Men's Tennis, 6-1

April 4, 2008

Box Score

Tallahassee, Fla. - Florida A&M proved to have too much venom in their bite on Friday afternoon as the Rattlers took down the Wildcats, 6-1 in men's tennis play at the FAMU Tennis Courts in Tallahassee, Fla.

The match was part of a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) affair, as the Wildcats dropped to 3-10, 1-2 MEAC. With the win, the Rattlers of FAMU improved to 9-8 overall.

The match began with FAMU taking two-of-three matches in the doubles portion of play. B-CU's duo of Cristian Cruz and Yannick Jackson led at the No. 2 position, but it was too late as the Rattlers took the No. 1 and No. 3 positions with relative ease.

In the singles competition, B-CU got excellent play from Jackson as he defeated FAMU's Michael Moore in straight sets on scores of 7-5, 6-4. That was at the No. 4 position.

The Rattlers would not lose another point, however, as they were too much for the 'Cats in all other areas of the match.

B-CU did have a good match from freshman Kristofer Martin at the No. 6 spot as he fell by scores of 6-2, 6-3 to FAMU's Paul Paige.

B-CU takes to the court again on Apr. 5 when they take on Southern University.
