Daytona Beach, Fla. - Bethune-Cookman University Head Women's Basketball Coach Vanessa Inge has named Eric Williams as an assistant on her first coaching staff at B-CU.
Inge, who was hired earlier this Summer, selected Williams who was an assistant coach with the Hampton University men's basketball program in 2007-2008.
A native of Washington, D.C., Williams attended St. Augustine's College in Raleigh, NC., (1983-87) and St. Paul's College in Lawrenceville, VA. (2006-2007).
He played college basketball for the St. Augustine Falcons (1983-86).
He is the former boys and girls head varsity coach at Norview High School in Norfolk, Virginia. His two year record with the boys was 31-17, guiding the Pilots to a regional tournament and consecutive district tournament appearances.
Williams served as the varsity girls coach at Norview, leading his teams to four straight district playoffs. The Pilots were 38-26 making two regional tournaments appearances and each senior received a full scholarship or grant-in-aid to attend a four-year college.
Williams has also coached at Archbishop Carroll High School in Washington, D.C. and Central High School in Capital Heights, Maryland. In addition, he was also the associate head coach for the Boo Williams Nike Elite AAU team from 2002-2006. He has also been a camp counselor and clinician at several basketball camps around the country.
"We are excited to have Eric join our program," said Coach Inge. "He has an outstanding background as a coach and recruiter and will be a good addition for all the players, and especially the post players."
