DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Head Coach Vanessa Inge and the Lady Wildcats of Bethune-Cookman Women's Basketball just got a jump on next season, adding two players for the 2010-11 signing class during the basketball early signing period. The Lady Wildcats got signatures from a shooting guard and point guard.

Stacei Dennis, 5'11” shooting guard from Harrisburg, Penn, looks to add depth on the perimeter, but also adds an element of height in the backcourt, lacking not only at B-CU, but also at many other conference schools. Dennis transfers from Daytona State College, where she attended classes while selecting her playing university. The Harrisburg High School graduate has a demonstrated ability to score, sparked by excellent shooting.

“With her size, she can play multiple positions,” said Coach Inge, “she is a pure shooter with deep range and an all around athlete. She will bring us depth at the two guard spot, and has the ability to be a very versatile player.”

Dijanelle Fowler, 5'8” point guard hailing from Miramar, Fla., also inked for the Lady Wildcats in the early signing period. Fowler, who is a left-hander from Parkway Academy, brings a lot of important elements to the B-CU lineup, including her ability to defend and her high basketball IQ.

Last season she was a very strong contributor to her team, averaging 9 points, 5 assists, and 4 rebounds per game. The two-time state champion is now ready to make waves on the next level, inking with Bethune-Cookman.

“D.J. is another starlet point guard for us, who has great speed and quickness, and can handle the ball,” noted Inge. “She has a mid-range game and attacks the hoop, but has a real head for finding the open person.”

The Lady Wildcats staff is excited to have these talented players on board for the next season, and look to add more in the next signing period. For now, however, the Lady Wildcats are rolling into the 2009-10 season, ramping up into some of their strongest competition.

Turning back to the present, the Lady Wildcats have faced some strong teams from the ACC and Conference USA thus far in the season, with a record of 1-2, heading into a busy week for B-CU. The Lady Wildcats take on the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Fla., on Tuesday, and then head out for the Lady Pirate Invitational on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 27-28. Stay tuned to
