DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The LadyCats of Bethune-Cookman faced Jacksonville in an early-season rematch Thursday night at Moore Gymnasium. Although the LadyCats got off to strong starts in each set, they couldn't hold off the Dolphin attack, losing 3-0.

In the first set, the LadyCats fell behind, but never gave up on the fight. They rallied and tied up the set before pushing ahead. The set remained close, but a Jacksonville run put them ahead permanently, winning 25-17. In the second set, the same fate befell the 'Cats, leading early before surrendering the lead permanently to the Dolphins, falling 25-15. However, the third match was a true battle, featuring six tied scores and three lead changes late in the game, with JU coming out on top, 25-21.

The LadyCats showed flashes of their potential, with several strong attack volleys, that would have scored against a team less talented than Jacksonville. However, B-CU came up against solid competition tonight, and could not overcome unforced errors in addition to the Dolphin attack. The match featured 19 tie scores and 9 lead changes, making the match much tighter than the final scores would suggest.

Offensively leading the way, Chelle Ticeson finished with 8 kills, hitting .412 and collecting, 3 service aces and 2 blocks. Following her huge two-way performance against SSU, Shakhea Moore-Hagins with 5 digs. Daryl Rodriguez finished with 15 assists in setting up the offense.

The LadyCats (3-8) now take some time from the court to regroup and prepare for their next five contests on the road. B-CU returns to the court on Sept. 25, as they travel to Boiling Springs, N.C. to face Gardner-Webb University.
