HOWEY IN THE HILLS, Fla. - Going up against its toughest field of competition so far this season, the Bethune-Cookman men's golf team finished the first day of the Mission Inn Fall Invitational in 11th place Friday afternoon at Las Colinas CC.
The lone consolation is the Wildcats are ahead of 12th place Florida A&M by 25 shots, 319-344. Florida Atlantic has a four-shot lead over Johnson and Wales and host St. John's in the team standings. Sam Ryder of Stetson leads the individual chase with a three-under par 69.
The five Wildcat golfers combined for 53 of a possible 90 pars on the 6,949-yard course, but managed just one birdie as a team. Willie Mack III and Emanuel Petrich is tied for 49th at 81 and Jerrell Parrish is in 55th with an 83.
