DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- "Go long" was the theme for the Bethune-Cookman passing attack in Saturday's 47-24 victory over Delaware State.
Matthew Johnson completed long passes of 50 yards, 41 yards, and 37 yards as he finished 16 of 21 passes for 259 yards and one touchdown in three quarters of work.
For the third consecutive game, Johnson had over 200 passing yards, which hasn't been done since Allen Suber in 2001.
"We caught them in a couple of coverage's that we knew we could take advantage of," Johnson said, "We just went out and executed. Receivers knew where they were supposed to be and I just got the ball to them so they could make a play."
JeVaughn Reams, a transfer from the University of Central Florida, had a monster game. He registered the first 100 yard receiving performance for an B-CU player this season with six receptions for 119 yards and a touchdown.
Reams provided the highlight of the day when he stretched out to catch a 41-yard touchdown from Matthew Johnson.
"Oh no," the response from Reams when asked was that his best catch ever. "That's just how we dial it up in practice."
Pat Brown were also key factors in B-CU's passing attack. Poole finished the game with 56 yards receiving with a 50-yard reception that led to a score. Brown had four receptions for 46 yards.
"The guys are executing what we're calling and that's a great feeling for a coach," said Head Coach Brian Jenkins.
