Daytona Beach, Fla. The defending MEAC champions South Carolina State men's tennis team, swept the Wildcats 7-0, on Monday afternoon in  Mid-Eastern Atlantic Conference play at City Island Tennis Center.

Bethune Cookman's Yannick Jackson put together a strong match at No. 3 single versus South Carolina's Alexander Nikitenko, he fought hard but was defeated in the third set, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4.

Senior Cristian Cruz also fought hard to clinch a victory for the Wildcats at No. 6 singles with David Grund of South Carolina State. Cruz played well for the Wildcats in the match being defeated 6-3, 7-6 (5).

 "All the credit goes to South Carolina, as MEAC champions they have consistently been the big kids on the block. This season we have faced some tough competition, and many of our top six have been dealing with some illnesses. We are just hoping we can get our top six all healthy and playing well at the same time for the remainder of the season," said B-CU Head Tennis Coach Trey Bogue.

The Wildcats will host another match at their City Island Tennis Center home again on Wednesday, March 31, against University of Missouri Kansas City.
