Curtis Named MEAC Rookie Of The Week

Nov. 7, 2011

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Bethune-Cookman's Aubrianna Curtis was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference volleyball Rookie of The Week, it was announced Monday.

The freshman setter from Clarkston, Michigan posted 88 assists in the Lady Wildcats' three matches last week, including a career-high 44 in a 3-2 victory over North Carolina Central in which she also had six kills and eight digs.

For the season, Curtis has 291 assists, 25 blocks and 68 kills. Taking over the setter's role last month, Curtis has averaged 30 assists per match in her most recent seven outings.

Curtis becomes the second B-CU player recognized by the MEAC this season. Krysta Gardner was named Player Of The Week consecutively on September 12 and September 19.

B-CU is 12-17 this season and 5-3 in MEAC Southern Division play. The Lady Wildcats conclude the regular season Sunday at Florida A&M.
