Robinson Joins B-CU Men's Basketball Coaching Staff

Sept. 21, 2011

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Bethune-Cookman University Acting Men's Head Basketball Coach Gravelle Craig announced today the appointment of Montez M. Robinson as an assistant coach.

Robinson, 31, comes to B-CU after a six-year stint at Kennesaw State (Ga.) where he helped in that program's transition from Division II to Division I. Prior to that, he was a talent scout for Ken Littlefield Basketball Inc., where he also assisted in running the summer camp operations.

"Montez was involved in all aspects of coaching while he was at Kennesaw State," Craig said. "He recruited excellent players and he knows the Florida-Georgia area extremely well."

He began his career as an assistant coach at Truett-McConnell Junior College in Cleveland, Georgia, where he helped a team that won eight games in 2001 improve to a 26-win team in 2002 and a 20-game winner in 2003.

Robinson's collegiate playing career began at Kemper Military College in Booneville, Missouri where he was a captain and a two-year starter. He then transferred to North Georgia State, where he was a two-year starter and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice.

Coach Robinson is married to the former Ms. Leah Hornbuckle.

B-CU enters the 2011-2012 season as the defending Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference regular season champions. The Wildcats were 21-13 last year and earned their first post-season appearance as a Division I team, facing Virginia Tech in the NIT.
