ORANGEBURG, S.C. – Desire Walker had 10 kills and eight digs as South Carolina State defeated Bethune-Cookman 3-0 (25-17,25-12,25-9) in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Southern Division opener for both teams Friday night.

The defending conference champion Bulldogs (8-10 overall, 1-0 MEAC) held the Lady Wildcats (6-10,0-1) to a -.133 hitting percentage while registering 11 team blocks at the net.

Krysta Gardner posted eight kills for B-CU while Janeen Davis added seven. Frances Rodriguez delivered 14 assists and Jennifer Jimenez nine digs.

B-CU concludes its road trip Sunday, facing Savannah State at 1 p.m.
