VOLLEYBALL PREVIEW: B-CU At Stetson's Clarion Classic

DELAND, Fla. -The Lady Wildcats continue their tournament tour this weekend on the other side of Volusia County. A look at this weekend's Stetson Clarion Classic beginning Friday.

THE FIELD: B-CU (2-5) will meet Savannah State (0-5) Friday at 3 p.m., then host Stetson (0-3) at 5 p.m. and will wrap their sojourn to DeLand facing Wofford (5-2) Saturday at 11 a.m.

ABOUT SAVANNAH STATE: B-CU defeated the Tigers 3-0 on opening day at the Citadel. Bryana Gadis and Bianca Helton are SSU's top two offensive threats.

ABOUT STETSON: The Hatters started their season dropping matches to IUPUI, Eastern Michigan and Marshall. Kaley Melville posted 35 kills in three matches for Stetson, who have won the last three meetings with B-CU.

ABOUT WOFFORD: The Terriers won their first three matches, but settled for a split at the South Carolina State tournament last week. Amanda Liguori has 66 kills and 14 service aces so far this season.

B-CU UPDATE: Janeen Davis and Krysta Gardner finished the second week of play ranked 1-2 in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference in kills, averaging 3.7 and 3.59 kills per set, respectively. Davis is fourth in hitting percentage (.261) while Gardner is seventh in service aces (.41) and Jennifer Jimenez is eight (3.15 per set) in digs. Davis and Gardner have the MEAC's top five single-match kill totals so far this season.

Davis earned a berth on the USF All-Tournament Team last week. She registered 62 kills in the Lady Wildcats' four matches.

NEXT UP: B-CU hosts the Holiday Inn Resort Invitational next Friday through Sunday.
