UMES Ends B-CU's Season With 3-0 MEAC Decision

BALTIMORE - Bethune-Cookman's 2012 season concluded Friday with a 3-0 (25-15,25-15,25-14) loss to Maryland Eastern Shore in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference tournament at Coppin State University.

Saitua Iota had 14 kills and three service aces as the defending champion Hawks (26-5) advanced to the semifinals, where they will face Hampton, a 3-0 winner over South Carolina State Saturday afternoon.

B-CU finishes 5-28.

Krysta Gardner had 13 kills and hit .440 for B-CU, while Rhea Simon and Janeen Davis added four kills apiece. Freshman setter Monica Lowe posted 22 assists and six digs.

It was the final match Gardner and Davis, the team's two seniors. Gardner concludes her B-CU career as the all-time leader in kills (1,198), attempts (3,412) and service aces (134) while Davis finishes with 859 kills and 810 digs - third and fourth all-time in those respective categories.
