B-CU Men's Basketball Signs Toledo HS Teammates

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Bethune-Cookman Men's Head Basketball Coach Gravelle Craig has announced the signing of Tony Kynard and Clemme Owens, teammates at Toledo's Rogers HS, to national letters of intent.

Kyrnard and Owens will join the Wildcats in 2013-2014 after their senior season in northwest Ohio, where both have been recognized among the state's top point guards and shooting guards, respectively.

The two have played together since seventh grade, and made the decision to continue on as teammates with verbal commitments back in August. B-CU assistant coach Rodney Martin, a Toledo native, played a key role in the duo's recruitment.

Owens, a 6-0 shooting guard, led Rogers HS with an average of 18.7 points and 5.5 rebounds during his junior season while Kynard, a 6-1 point guard, averaged 13.9 points and 8.2 assists.

"Both Tony and Clemme are scoring guards who've had success in an up-and-down style of play," Craig said. "They fit in very well with our style of play and already have a good chemistry. I'm looking forward to having them in our backcourt the next four years."

B-CU has posted four consecutive winning seasons, including a 2011 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) regular season championship and NIT berth and an appearance in the 2012 MEAC tournament championship.
