Men's Tennis Drops Two Road Matches

Feb. 6, 2012

Final Stats

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The Bethune-Cookman men's tennis team dropped two road matches over the weekend as Webber International posted a 6-3 victory on Saturday and 5-2 Sunday at Florida Gulf Coast.

Marc Misanovic and Kip Jackson registered singles points on Sunday, but B-CU slipped to 1-3 on the season.

"They each played their best match of the year so far," B-CU coach Tim Pleasant said of Misanovic and Jackson. "Playing our first six matches away is proving to be tough for our new and young team, especially when we are struggling to get the doubles point."

Juan Veron and Santiago Lobelo accounted for B-CU's points on Saturday with singles victories and then combining to win their doubles match.

"Our team has the ability to compete well at the Division I level. It is my job to get them to believe it and perform like they believe it by April," Pleasant said. " We can play with anybody, but getting sixguys to all play at one time together is the challenge we face by April when conference starts. We get another try and hopefully we are able to get Artem Vassiliev into the lien-up by then and get our first D-1 win."

B-CU travels to Jacksonville Wednesday.
