WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Bethune-Cookman faces Hampton in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference tournament semifinals Friday at 6 p.m. A victory puts the Wildcats in their first-ever championship game against the Florida A&M - Norfolk State winner.
HISTORICALS: B-CU is in the MEAC tournament semifinals for a second straight season. The last time the Wildcats have made the semifinals in multiple years was 1985-87 ... Last night's victory over N.C. Central marked the first time B-CU has won two games in a single tournament year.
HISTORY WITH HAMPTON: The Wildcats have won the past two meetings and three of the last four with the Pirates, including a 74-64 win 2/27 in historic Moore Gym. Garrius Holloman scored 16 points and Stanley Elliott 15 in that victory.
KEY STATS: B-CU is now 12-2 when opponents score 64 or less.
5 OR LESS GUYS: B-CU is 3-5 this season in games decided by 5 points or less, but has won 11 of its last 12 games against MEAC opponents by that same margin.
BIG NIGHT FOR BRYANT: Javoris Bryant's 12-10 double-double against N.C. Central was the first of his career and also mark a career-high rebounding night.
BREEZE UPDATE: Like all of us, Anthony Breeze is day-to-day. The senior with the shoulder injury had six points in 15 minutes against the Eagles.
