RALEIGH, N.C. - South Carolina State stopped Bethune-Cookman 4-0 in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference tournament semifinals Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs will meet Florida A&M for a possible fifth straight title Sunday at noon. B-CU concludes the season with a 14-14 mark.
"We played with effort, but South Carolina State was just too strong," said B-CU coach Tim Pleasant. "We can compete with them and Florida A&M, but we're a year or so away."
Marc Misanovic had won the first set in his No. 1 singles match with Tomas Bizon and was trailing 4-3 in the second set when play was halted. The senior and Artem Vassiliev were also in a close match in No. 1 doubles when the Bulldogs took the other two matches for the doubles point.
"Marc played well today," Pleasant said. "The rest of the new guys need another year in competition."
