NORFOLK, Va. – Following two gutsy performances on the mound for the Wildcats last week, Bethune-Cookman sophomore pitcher Montana Durapau received the sixth B-CU conference honors of the season, officials from the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) announced Monday. Durapau was named the MEAC Pitcher of the Week after aiding the Wildcats in a 1-1 record against FIU and #19 Miami.
The Deltona native logged two appearances on the week, one start and one relief, going 1-1. He accumulated a combined 1.00 ERA in the two game, holding FIU to seven hits, while walking one and striking out four. Against Miami, he did not allow a hit and struck out four batters in three innings of relief action, giving the Wildcats a chance to win in the 5-4 loss.
The Wildcats will face FIU again this week, on Wednesday at 4 p.m., in the final home game of 2012, after taking on Jacksonville, Tuesday at 7 p.m.
The award brings B-CU's total to six on the year, and the first for Durapau. It is the second of his career after earning Rookie accolades last season.
