DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Delicia Pierre and Destiny Hudson each had career-high double-doubles in Bethune-Cookman's 3-1 (25-21,25-20, 24-26,25-16) Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Southern Division loss to Florida A&M Friday in Moore Gym.
Pierre, a sophomore, had 23 kills and 18 digs while Hudson, also a sophomore, posted 16 kills and 18 digs as B-CU slipped to 4-18 overall and 3-2 in conference play.
Katherine Huanec's 17 kills led three Rattlers (8-6,5-0) in double figures.
B-CU extended the match to a fourth set after taking an early 16-12 lead. Florida A&M managed a 24-24 tie, but the Lady Cats capitalized on a Rattler attack error and used a Hudson kill to win the set.
B-CU had a 21-20 lead in the first set before the Rattlers scored the final five points.
Phlyecia Armstrong had eight kills and four blocks for B-CU. Normarie Rolon and Jennifer Jimenez added 12 and 11 digs, respectively.
The Lady Cats host North Florida in a non-conference match Tuesday.
NOTES: Pierre's 23 kills tied her with four other players for the eighth-highest single-match total in school history ... It was her third double-double of the season and it came on her 22nd birthday ... This was Hudson's first career double-double ... Rhea Simon (foot) was out for the second straight match ... B-CU's 56 team kills were a season-high....This was just the third time B-CU has played a match longer than three sets this season.
