DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Jennifer Jimenez of volleyball and Eddie Poole of football were named as this week's Chick-Fil-A Student-Athletes of the Week for October 7-13, 2013.
A senior libero from Merritt Island, Fla., Jimenez became the first B-CU volleyball player in Bethune-Cookman history to amass 1,000 career digs against Florida Gulf Coast. She was also instrumental in helping the Wildcats to consecutive wins in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference against North Carolina A&T and North Carolina Central, respectively. Additionally, against N.C. A&T, Jimenez registered her 100th career service ace.
Poole, a senior receiver from Belle Glade, Fla., topped the 100-yard reception mark for the first time all season in the Wildcats' 21-7 win at Delaware State. His fourth quarter catch on a third down and long play extended the B-CU drive that ended with a score via Quentin Williams' pass to Poole – his first TD reception of the season. The Glades Central HS alum finished the day with a game-high 103 yards on four receptions.
