BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Bethune-Cookman Wildcats received three SWAC postseason awards following the conclusion of the regular season, the conference announced Friday morning. Head coach
Reggie Theus was named SWAC Coach of the Year,
Jakobi Heady was named All-SWAC First Team, and
Daniel Rouzan was named All-SWAC second team.
Reggie Theus led Bethune-Cookman to one of its most successful seasons at the Division I level. Under his leadership, the Wildcats posted a 17-14 overall record and a 14-4 mark in SWAC play, securing the program's first SWAC regular season championship since joining the conference and its second regular season title since transitioning to Division I. Throughout conference play, Theus guided Bethune-Cookman to become the league's most consistent team. The Wildcats went 10-1 at home in SWAC games, consistently protecting their home floor while also earning key road victories to separate themselves in the standings.
Jakobi Heady picks up his second All-SWAC selection, as he was named to the second-team back in 2023-24. He has been one of the most productive and efficient players in the SWAC this season, averaging 18.1 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.5 steals per game while leading Bethune-Cookman to a regular season conference championship. The senior ranks fifth in the SWAC in scoring and first in field goal percentage, shooting an efficient .520 from the floor while also posting .432 from three-point range and .791 at the free throw line. His ability to score at all three levels while maintaining elite efficiency separates him among the league's top offensive players.
Heady delivered multiple standout performances throughout the season, including a season-high 30 points in a win over Prairie View A&M. He finished the season with five SWAC weekly awards, winning player of the week three times and impact playe of the week twice.
This is
Daniel Rouzan's second career All-SWAC selection after being named to the second-team last season. He played a key role in Bethune-Cookman's SWAC regular season championship run, providing consistent production on both ends of the floor. He averaged 11.8 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game during the 2024-25 season.
Rouzan recorded two double-doubles on the year and delivered several standout performances in conference play. He posted 25 points and 13 rebounds in a win over Jackson State and added 24 points against Alcorn State University. His ability to contribute as a scorer and rebounder added balance to the Wildcats' lineup throughout the season.
The Wildcats turn their attention to the Southwestern Athletic Conference Tournament as they are scheduled to play on Wednesday at 2 p.m. from Atlanta. By virtue of winning the regular season the title, B-CU receives a first-round bye and will await its first opponent.
