TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Delicia Pierre had 11 kills and two service aces in Bethune-Cookman's 3-0 (25-23,25-21,25-18) regular season finale loss to Florida A&M Sunday afternoon.
The Lady Cats (6-26 overall,5-5 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference South Division) finished third in the division and will face the second seed from the North Division at the MEAC tournament next week in Baltimore. Florida A&M (14-6,10-0) had already clinched the division's number one seed.
Destiny Hudson added seven kills and Phleycia Armstrong and Lauren Turner five each for B-CU. Freshman setter Alexas Thomas had 30 assists and senior libero Jennifer Jimenez 13 digs.
B-CU trailed 16-12 in the first set, but managed three ties, the last at 22-22 on a Hudson kill and a 23-22 on a FAMU attack error, but the Rattlers scored the final three points to take the set.
In the second set, the Lady Cats enjoyed an early 9-2 lead on an Armstrong kill. FAMU regained the lead at 19-18 and closed the set with a 4-0 run.
Erika DeVaughn led Florida A&M with 14 kills while Joanie Del Castillo had 27 digs.
