TAMPA – After a successful season opener against Trinity Baptist, B-CU plays its first road game of the season against South Florida Tuesday at the Sun Dome.
2-0? B-CU is looking for its first 2-0 start since 2010-11 — The year the Wildcats won their first-ever MEAC regular season championship. Before that, B-CU's last2-0 start was in 1999.
NICE TO SEE YOU AGAIN: Tuesday's game resumes the B-CU-USF series. The last meeting was New Year's Eve 2006. USF leads the all-time series 13-1.
HEY, HO, OHIO — The season opener was also a strong debut for B-CU's Ohio connection. In addition to Ricky Johnson's game-high 22, Toledo's Maurice Taylor and Clemmye Owens added 15 and 12. In all, Ohio scored 49 of B-CU's 91 points.
EVERYONE'S CRASHING: All 11 B-CU players had at least one rebound in the opening game. Ten different players scored, and the one who didn't — Troy Simmons — dished out seven assists.
ABOUT USF: The Bulls are 1-0 after Saturday's 72-62 win over Tennessee Tech, led by senior Victor Rudd's game-high 23 points. South Florida's two promising freshman bigs, John Egbunu and Chris Perry, combined for 21 points and 14 rebounds.
