BALTIMORE – Delicia Pierre had 22 kills, but Bethune-Cookman fell 3-0 (25-22,27-25,25-20) to Coppin State in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference tournament Friday night.
Cindy Okpegbue had 17 kills and hit. 538 as the Eagles (14-15) advanced to the semifinals against Florida A&M.
The Lady Cats finish the 2013 season at 6-27.
In the opening set, B-CU scored five unanswered points to tie it at 22-22 on a Phylecia Armstrong kills, but the Eagles scored the final three points to take the set.
B-CU was also down five points (19-14) in the second set but rallied to take a 23-22 lead on a Jennifer Jimenez ace. Coppin State scored the next two points to take a 24-23 lead. Two Pierre kills tied it at 24 and 25, but Coppin State closed again.
Coppin State jumped out to a 14-8 third set lead. B-CU pulled to 20-18 on a Rhea Simon kill but could come no closer.
Jimenez finished with 16 digs and three service aces. Pierre also had three service aces.
Destiny Hudson and Simon had seven and five kills, respectively, while Alexas Thomas posted 33 assists.
