GREENSBORO, N.C. – Destiny Hudson had 14 kills in Bethune-Cookman's 3-1 (23-25,25-20,25-18,25-22) loss to North Carolina A&T in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Southern Division match Sunday afternoon.
Delicia Pierre had a double-double of 10 kills and 12 digs, Rhea Simon posted 12 kills and senior Jennifer Jimenez had a season-high 23 digs for B-CU (6-24,5-4 MEAC).
B-CU saw a 19-15 lead turn into a 22-21 deficit in the first set before two Simon kills and another from Lauren Turner gave the Lady Cats a 24-22 advantage. The Aggies (6-22,5-3) closed to one point, but B-CU took the set on an attack error.
The Lady Cats had a 17-16 lead in the second set before the Aggies scored three answered points to take the lead and closed the set with a 5-1 run.
B-CU fell behind 9-2 in the third set, but managed an 18-18 tie before the Aggies pulled away by scoring the final seven points.
The Lady Cats had three four-point leads in the fourth set, the last at 19-15 on a Turner kill. After North Carolina A&T tied it at 19, Simon gave B-CU its last lead before the Aggies scored six of the final seven points.
B-CU plays at Warner Tuesday.
NOTES: Florida A&M's 3-0 at North Carolina Central clinched a spot in the MEAC tournament for the Lady Cats … This was Hudson's second straight match with 14 kills … Pierre double-doubled for the sixth time this season.
