Fall Ball: Four Scrimmages into the Journey

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The Bethune-Cookman Wildcats took to the field again at Jackie Robinson Ballpark on Sunday afternoon, capitalizing on clear skies and the best weather of the week for the second full-game scrimmage of the weekend and fourth of the fall practice session.

Part of the Maroon and Gold World Series, the squad split into teams in full uniform for a nine-inning game situation, after also competing in live game action on Friday. Across the two teams, the Wildcats rotated eight pitchers through the mound in a tight battle through the final frame.

While integrating 19 newcomers to the team, the coaching staff is taking advantage of the opportunity to see how each player fits into the 2014 roster through the heavy dose of live-game action. Meanwhile, several upperclassmen drew notice from the staff.

“There's definitely some bright spots,” Head Coach Jason Beverlin said. “The key is to continue to emphasize the focus and concentration we need to win baseball games, doing little things right and really committing to the purpose the team has.”
