Men's Golf Ranks No. 53 in Golfweek/Sagarin Poll

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Bethune-Cookman men's golf earned its highest team ranking in school history on Monday, coming in at No. 53 in the first Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings of the 2013-14 season. This is the first time B-CU has ever cracked the Top 75 in the Golfweek/Sagarin poll.

After finishing in second place at the first two tournaments of the year in both the Rutgers Invitational and Adams Cup of Newport, Bethune-Cookman men's golf was rewarded with its first ever ranking inside the Top 75. Both fields included numerous Top 100 programs, featuring schools like UCF (No. 7) and USC Upstate (No. 72). On the year, Bethune-Cookman is 24-2 as a team.

Under the direction of Director of Golf Loritz "Scooter" Clark, Bethune-Cookman finished last season reaching as high as No. 129 entering into the PGA National Minority Collegiate Golf Championships at the end of the season.

The Wildcats swept the team titles in both the men's and women's events.

Individually, sophomore Ryan Fricker (Ivybridge, England), earned his highest ranking as a Wildcat, sitting at No. 101 in the first individual collegiate rankings. A season ago, Fricker advanced to the NCAA Regionals [Tallahassee, Fla.] competing as the first B-CU performer in men's golf postseason play since 1999.

As a freshman, Fricker ranked as high as No. 205 in the Golfweek/Sagarin polls, just prior to his stint at the NCAA Regionals.

B-CU gets back onto the course Oct. 6-7, with the men taking part in the Stars and Stripes Invitational, hosted by Army in West Point, N.Y.
