DELAND, Fla. – .Rhea Simon posted team-highs with eight kills and eight digs as Bethune-Cookman concluded play at the Stetson Westin Classic with a 3-0 (25-18,25-17,25-12) loss to Providence Saturday afternoon

Simon and Phylecia Armstrong were named to the all-tournament team after the Lady Wildcats (1-5) posted a 1-2 record in the tournament. B-CU downed Savannah State 3-0 earlier in the day.

Armstrong and Delicia Pierre each added six kills.

B-CU and the Friars (4-3) were tied 17-17 in the first set, but the Friars concluded the set with an 8-0 run to take the lead. Kayla Fitzgerald led three Providence players in double figure kills with 12 as the Friars hit .375 and .419 in the final two sets.

Freshman setter Alexas Thomas posted 24 assists, and added six digs along with Pierre and Normarie Rolon.

B-CU travels to Norfolk State next weekend.
