DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Delicia Pierre had a double-double of 15 kills and 12 digs, but Bethune-Cookman dropped a 3-1 (25-21,18-25,25-20,25-21) non-conference match to North Florida Tuesday night inside Moore Gymnasium.
Rhea Simon added 12 kills for the Lady Cats, who jumped out to a 14-9 lead in the second set and pulled away to even the match at one set apiece.
Bethune-Cookman (6-16) led 17-15 in the third set, but the Ospreys (6-14) scored four unanswered points to take a 19-17 lead and held on to regain the lead in the match.
Simon had a late three-kill outburst in the fourth set that helped Bethune-Cookman close to 23-21 before the Ospreys scored the final two points.
Destiny Hudson posted nine kills for the Lady Cats, while Rakaya Neely finished with six kills and five blocks.
Setter Hazel Ortiz-Rosado had 34 assists and three service aces. Normarie Rolon led the Lady Cats with 17 digs, while Rechez Lindsay added 10.
Bethune-Cookman returns to action next Tuesday against Jacksonville.
