DOVER , Del. - Riding the programs longest win streak since 2010, the Bethune-Cookman women's basketball team looks to make it six straight as the Lady Wildcats (9-12, 6-3 MEAC) continue road action, taking on the Delaware State Hornets (4-16, 1-6 MEAC) on Saturday, Feb. 7 at 2 p.m., in Dover, Del.
Scouting the Lady Wildcats
Most recent, B-CU defeated cross-state rival Florida A&M for the first time in Tallahassee under head coach Vanessa Balir-Lewis, 70-57, wrapping up the month of January for the Wildcats 6-2 and giving the Wildcats a push to second place in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference standings.
On the season, BC-U sophomore guard Kendra Cooper continues to lead the Wildcat offensive threat with 13.6 points per game, heading the MEAC in 3-pointers made (65) and attempted (190).
Defensively, the Wildcat redshirt senior forward/guard combo, Terrenisha Hollis, remains the team's leader in steals (47) after nearly pulling off a quadruple-double a week ago (19 points, 8 rebounds, 8 steals and 8 assists), along with sophomore center Kailyn Williams, who sits as the MEAC's leader in blocks at 4.2 per contest.
Scouting the Lady Hornets
DSU snapped a five-game skid Tuesday evening with a 56-54 overtime victory over the NJIT Highlanders.
Redshirt senior Tierra Hawkins leads the Lady Hornets in nearly every category with her league fourth best 16.7ppg and team-best 8.1 boards.
Bolton Returns to Memorial
Saturday marks the return of current B-CU assistant head coach Andre Bolton, to Memorial Hall where he formerly served as the DSU women's basketball assistant coach from 2005-12. During his time with DSU, Bolton helped lead Delaware State to a MEAC Tournament championship and NCAA Tournament berth (2007).
