NORFOLK, Va. – Bethune-Cookman Baseball third baseman Mijon Cummings has been selected as this week's Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week, announced Monday, April 6, from the conference office in Norfolk, Virginia.
Cummings, a 5-11, freshman from Lutz, Florida, is collecting his second MEAC Rookie of the Week award for the 2015 campaign.
In helping the Wildcats to a 3-2 record last week – which included wins over FIU and rival Florida A&M, Cummings registered a team-leading .462 batting average. He hit his first career home run in a loss at No. 12 Miami, while going 6-for-13 overall on the week. He drove in three runs while crossing once on the solo shot to left at Mark Light Field in Coral Gables.
In the series against FAMU, Cummings batted .400, including two hits and a RBI. In the win at FIU, he finished 2-for-5 with three putouts and an assist from his third base position on the field.
Norfolk State's Roger Hall was named Player of the Week by the MEAC, while teammate Matt Outman picked up Pitcher of the Week accolades.
