MORAGA, Calif. – Bethune-Cookman Volleyball wrapped up its west-coast swing after dropping a pair of matches, falling first to the tournament host St. Mary's 3-0 (25-20, 26-24, 28-26) before being swept by Fresno State 3-0 (25-20, 25-12, 25-19) during the nightcap Saturday (Sept. 5) in Moraga, California.
Match One
During a close match with tournament host SMC, the Wildcats out hit, out dig and out blocked the Gaels but were unable to pull off the upset, falling 3-0 (25-20, 26-24, 28-26).
B-CU hit .328 with 50 team kills compared to St. Mary's .258 and 48. The 'Cats also picked up 58 digs and had 8.0 team blocks while the Gaels finished with 48 and 3.0 respectively.
Delicia Pierre led the Wildcats offensively with a match-best 19 kills (.326), while Rhea Simon trailed with ten (.667).
Hazel Ortiz Rosado collected her fifth assist/dig double-double of the season finishing with 42 assists and 11 digs while Normarie Rolon collected a team-best 16 digs.
Match Two
Match two was all Fresno State after a close first set the Wildcats fell 3-0 (25-20, 25-12, 25-19).
Pierre continued to lead B-CU finishing with nine kills while Ortiz Rosado earned 25 assists and six digs.
