Noting the Wildcats
• Bethune-Cookman comes into the game having taken its first series sweep of the 2016 campaign, collecting all three games against Savannah State in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEACX) series over the weekend in Ormond Beach, Florida.
Michael Cruz hit his league-leading 11th home run in the series-opener against Savannah State.
• Senior right fielder Nathan Bond and freshman first baseman Danny Rodriguez each collected MEAC honors this week. Bond was tabbed Co=Player of the Week, while Rodriguez picked up Rookie of the Week accolades.
• Bond led the Wildcats at the plate in average through four games this past week. Bond hit .647 on the week, adding 11 hits and a home run. He blasted a two-run homer against SSU in a come-from-behind win over the Savannah State Tigers in the series-opener.
• Rodriguez picked up a couple of clutch hits over the course of the week in helping Bethune-Cookman to a 3-1 record on the spin. Rodriguez batted a team second-best .471 on the week, picking up eight hits and two RBIs with three runs scored himself. At the first base position, he fielded at a .976 clip, supplying 37 putouts and three assists against a single error. Rodriguez collected three multi-hit games in four attempts on the week.
• Freshman pitcher Tyler Krull earned his first career win over the weekend, coming out of the bullpen in the series finale against Savannah State to collect the victory. Krull worked three innings, allowing a run on four hits and striking out three in relief of starter Alex Seibold.
