After falling 0-4 during opening weekend, the Bethune-Cookman volleyball team looks for its first victory, as the Wildcats travel south to participate in the 2016 Allstate Sugar Bowl Tournament hosted by Tulane (Sept. 2-3) in New Orleans, Louisiana.

SAM HOUSTON STATE
Sam Houston State volleyball picked up its first win of the season, sweeping Arkansas-Pine Bluff (25-15, 25-18, 25-19) to close out the UTA Maverick Classic on Saturday afternoon.

On the opening weekend, Vaughn finished with 45 kills followed by White's 44 through the three matches. Taylor Cunningham posted a team-leading 10 blocks and Claire Kilpatrick added 46 digs.

TULANE
Tulane volleyball fought to the finish in the final match of the Southern Miss Invitational on Saturday night at Oak Grove High School, taking the Golden Eagles (2-1) to five sets to improve to 3-0 on the season. The victory marks Tulane's first tournament sweep since the 2013 season.

Following the final match, three Tulane players were named to the All-Tournament Team: senior outside hitter Tea Juric, senior middle hitter Sarah Strasner and sophomore outside hitter Hannah Shaw.

TEXAS RIO GRANDE VALLEY
After going 2-1 at the Hampton Inn North Baylor Invitational, the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) volleyball program was crowned with the Tournament Championship.

Additionally, junior Bojana Mitrovic earned Best Attacker Honors.

UTRGV started the tournament with a 3-1 upset of host Baylor, the No. 47 ranked team in the 2015 RPI, on Friday. Then, after a 2-3 loss to Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi (TAMUCC), the No. 67 ranked team in the 2015 RPI to start Saturday, UTRGV closed out the tournament with a 3-0 win over Prairie View A&M.

UTRGV, Baylor and TAMUCC all finished 2-1. The first tiebreaker was based on sets. UTRGV went 8-4 in sets. Baylor went 7-4. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi went 7-5.

Mitrovic averaged 2.82 kills and 2.73 digs per set during the tournament. She posted a match-high 21 kills on .317 hitting with 15 digs and a career-high seven blocks against TAMUCC.
