Alum Update: Starling On Top Down Under

Bethune-Cookman's Alex Starling remains on top Down Under, recently earning his second championship in Australian's Premier Basketball League in three years.

Starling and his Southern Tigers concluded a dominating run in the league with an 85-66 win over the Sturt Sabres in the Grand Final championship game.

Starling had 19 points in the victory for Southern, who won 20 of 21 regular season games in addition to a pair of post-season wins.

He led the league in rebounding (14.65 per game) and steals (64) while finishing third in scoring at 21.6 points en route to being named a league star. Two years ago, he was league MVP while leading Woodville to the championship.

Bethune-Cookman was well-represented in the league, with 2013 grad Adrien Coleman playing for the South Adelaide Panthers, finishing third in the league in both scoring (21.87 ppg) and assists (4.53). Starling and Southern won the head-to-head match-up 101-75 on July 2.

Other former Wildcats abroad include:
* Mario Moody – Rostock (Germany) Seawolves
* DeLino Dear --  ASD Murgia Basket Santeramo (Italy)
* Travis Elliott – Led Brujos Izalco to the El Salvador league championship game in June. Elliott led the league in rebounding.

All five players received their Bachelor's Degree following the completion of their Bethune-Cookman playing days.
