DAYTONA BEACH, Florida. – Bethune-Cookman volleyball continues its road journey as the Wildcats head west to take on the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks in a two-match weekend series, Sept. 9-Sept. 10, in Flagstaff, Arizona.

Bethune-Cookman picked up its first win of the season last weekend at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Tournament in New Orleans, Louisiana in five sets over host Tulane (25-22, 17-25, 30-32, 25-18, 15-10).
Overall, the Wildcats are 1-6 following losses to Sam Houston State (3-0) and UT Rio Grande Valley (3-0) at the Sugar Bowl Tournament. Rookie
Alana Handy leads the team with 2.83 kills per set this season posting her second double-double of the season with 20 kills and 12 digs in the Tulane victory.
Phylecia Armstrong set a program record with a .750 hitting percentage against Tulane, recording 15 kills with zero errors on 20 attempts giving her the second-best percentage in the nation. Armstrong ranks second on the team with 2.21 kills per set and is the team leader in hitting percentage (.291) and blocks (24).
NAU
NAU will open its home schedule this weekend following its first seven matches of the season away from Flagstaff. Over the Labor Day weekend, NAU accumulated a 4-1 record during its five matches in the four-day span. After posting a 2-1 record at the Saluki Invitational, the Lumberjacks traveled to Martin, Tennessee where they defeated UT Martin in four sets and swept Alabama A&M to improve to 5-2. The 'Jacks were led by senior Lauren Jacobsen who posted a total of 29 kills in the two matches versus UT Martin and Alabama A&M.
The reigning Big Sky Offensive Player of the Week posted a career-best .524 hitting percentage in the win over Alabama A&M and is currently second in the conference with 4.62 kills per set. Freshman Abby Akin was named the Defensive Player of the Week and is second in the conference with 1.32 blocks per set. She tallied 10 blocks versus UT Martin and Alabama A&M.
