@BCUhoops Falls Late At SCSU 78-74

ORANGEBURG, S.C. – Diamante Lewis scored 18 points in Bethune-Cookman's 78-74 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference loss to South Carolina State Saturday evening.

Tashombe Riley scored 21 points and Eric Eaves 17 as the Bulldogs (4-11 overall, 1-1 MEAC) went 8-8 from the line after Lewis tied it at 70-70 on a free throw with 1:10 remaining.

Edward Stephens and Riley each hit two free throws to give the Bulldogs a 74-70 lead. Bethune-Cookman (3-14,0-4) closed to 74-72 and 76-74 on Reggie Baker baskets with 23 and 12 seconds to play, but could come no closer.

Baker had a 16-point, 10-rebound double-double in a game that saw the teams exchange the lead 19 times.

Brandon Tabb scored 11 of his 14 points in the second half and also had eight rebounds, and Quinton Forrest had 15 points and eight rebounds.

Neither team led by more than six points in the second half. Bethune-Cookman's biggest lead was 59-55 on a Tabb three-pointer with 9:22 remaining.

The Wildcats, who have dropped seven straight, will meet Florida A&M Monday at 6 p.m.
