PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – Jordan Jefferson had 14 kills Sunday as Bethune-Cookman dropped a 3-0 (29-27,25-20,25-20) decision in a match-up of Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference division leaders.
Iva Vujosevic had 17 kills and hit .412 as the Northern Division leading Hawks (21-6) pulled away from the Southern Division leading Wildcats (8-11). The match had no impact on conference standings.
Bethune-Cookman saw an early 10-4 lead fade in the first set, but turned a Hawks set point into two of its own at 25-24 and 26-24 on kills from Jefferson and
Alondra Bautista. The Hawks rallied and took the extended set by scoring the final three points.
Bautista finished with nine kills for the Wildcats, while
Rakaya Neely added seven to conclude a two-match road trip in which she posted a hitting percentage of .760 (19 of 25) with no errors.
Setters
Phalen Clark and J'Nai Higgins had 20 and 11 assists, respectively. Clark had a team-high 12 digs.
Bethune-Cookman returns home to face Savannah State Friday afternoon.
