The Game
Bethune-Cookman returns to the friendly confines of Municipal Stadium for Homecoming 2017 on Saturday, Oct. 28, as the Wildcats welcome the Hampton Pirates to Daytona Beach, Florida. For the two teams, it will be their first meeting since Hampton escaped with a 40-35 win over then-ranked No. 18 Bethune-Cookman in Virginia back on Nov. 13, 2014.

Story Lines
• This is the first meeting between Bethune-Cookman and Hampton since 2014. The two schools have been missing each other from the mandatory "teams drop off" philosophy of scheduling in 2016 and '17.
• Senior defensive back Diquan Richardson is tied for 29th nationally in the FCS with three interceptions on the year. He also sits tied for 83rd in total tackles with 56 to his credit.
• Junior kicker Uriel Hernandez is fourth nationally in the FCS for field goals per game with 1.67 made per game. • Four different players for the Wildcats have collected interceptions on the year.
• Linebacker Marquis Hendrix has led the Wildcats in tackles the last two games consecutively. He has stepped into the starting role in the middle linebacker position and is second on the team in total tackles (49).
• Fellow linebacker to Marquis Hendrix - Devin James, has accounted for 28 tackles on the year and sits third on the team in that category.

Series Notes
• The last time these two teams met was in a nationally televised ESPNU Thursday night broadcast in Hampton back in 2014.
• The series between Bethune-Cookman and Hampton is tied at 10 games apiece, respectfully.
• Prior to the loss in 2014, BCU had won the previous six games against the Pirates.
• Bethune-Cookman has won the previous three games against Hampton in Daytona Beach, including a memorable Thursday night 35-31 decision that ended with instant replay overturning a potential game-winning touchdown for the Pirates late in the fourth quarter.

The Broadcasts
The game will be streamed live on the CatEye Network at BCUathletics.com, while the CatEye Radio Network carries the contest via all three stations in the form of WELE 1380 The CAT, WSIR 1490 and WSOS 99.5 & 1170 with Nolan Alexander (play-by-play) operating alongside Larry Wesley (color) in the booth.

The Coach
Head Coach Terry Sims is now in his third year at the helm of the Bethune-Cookman Football program. The Knoxville alum holds a record of 16-12 overall with the Maroon and Gold, but this will be his first game as a head coach against Hampton.

The Weather
Projected temperatures on game day: Daytona Beach – 82/65 (20% chance of rain). Hampton, Va. – 73/63.

#HighFive
1. Head Coach Terry Sims is facing Hampton for the first time as a collegiate head coach.
2. Last weekend's game at No. 11 North Carolina A&T marked the second ranked foe BCU has faced in 2017.
3. The Wildcats are facing the Pirates for the first time in three years. They last met in Hampton during the 2014 season.
4. Redshirt senior quarterback Larry Brihm, Jr. has thrown four touchdown passes on the campaign.
5. Five different players have thrown a pass on the season for the Wildcats, including receiver Frank Brown on one play.

A Win Over Hampton Would…
• Give Bethune-Cookman the series lead against Hampton, 11-10.
• Be the 490th win all-time in school history.
• Allow Terry Sims a win over Hampton in his first-ever coaching appearance against the Pirates.
• Give BCU its fourth consecutive win in Daytona Beach against Hampton.

Block Party...
• The Bethune-Cookman special teams has amassed a pair of blocked kicks in 2017. One of those kicks was a game-saving block as time expired against South Carolina State, that registered by Delwaun Beard.

#OctoberFest…
• The month of October has been a scary month for the opposition throughout the last 17 years of BCU Football.
• Since 2000, Bethune-Cookman owns a record of 46-18 in the Halloween month, including perfect marks in 2002 (3-0), 2010 (5-0), 2012 (3-0) and 2013 (4-0).
• However, seven of those 18 losses have occurred away from Daytona Beach.

Thou Shalt Not Pass…
• Through the first seven games of the 2017 season, the Bethune-Cookman defense is allowing just 155.9 yards per game through the air. That allows BCU to sit sixth in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) for passing yards per game allowed by the defense.
• In pass efficiency defense, the Wildcats defensive unit is ranked 11th nationally, allowing just a 104.15 stat line from the opposition.

What's the Word...
• Each team throughout the 2017-18 BCU athletic year will have a word that represents the program.
• The word for BCU Football is "Resurge". The meaning comes from the team and Head Coach Terry Sims looking for a resurgence in 2017. The team endured an uncharacteristic 4-6 season last year, marking the first losing campaign at Bethune-Cookman since 2009.

Playoffs?
• Despite the introduction of the Celebration Bowl in February 2015, a member of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) still has the possibility of participating in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) Playoffs. A member would have to accept an at-large bid to the playoffs, which last happened with North Carolina A&T accepting the at-large bid in 2016.
