DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – It's Bethune-Cookman vs. Florida A&M. Of course, it's a big Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Southern Division volleyball match Friday night at 7 p.m. in Historic Moore Gym.

The Rattlers (5-9,overall,2-0 MEAC) and Wildcats (4-8, 2-0) vie for the division lead as the storied rivalry continues. Both teams lead North Carolina A&T (9-9,1-0) as the conference begins week two of league play.

Bethune-Cookman, after enduring a 49-match losing streak in the series, won the 2014 regular season finale and swept the 2015 series before Florida A&M swept last year's home-and-home.

Senior Rakaya Neely, a part of all three Wildcat wins over the Rattlers, enters Friday's match needing six blocks to surpass Phylecia Armstrong's total of 317 on the career list. Neely is second in the league in hitting percentage (.328) and third in blocks per set (.96).

B-CU UPDATE: The Wildcats suffered a 3-2 heartbreaker Tuesday night at Jacksonville … B-CU leads the MEAC in assists, blocks and digs per set as a team … Phalen Clark leads the league in assists (10.56) per set … Freshman Faith Landreneaux  is third in hitting percentage (.327) and fifth in blocks (.89 per set) while freshman Jordan Jefferson is fifth in kills (3.29) and tenth in digs (3.37) …   This just B-CU's third home match of the season … The Wildcats are 9-1 at home in MEAC play in the Brittany Williams era.

FAMU UPDATE: Like B-CU, FAMU opened MEAC plays with wins at South Carolina State and Savannah State, but needed five sets to fend off the Tigers on Sunday … Freshman Candelaria Herrera overtook Neely for the MEAC hitting percentage lead; she's hitting .331 …Valentina Carrasco leads the league in digs (4.8 per set)
