PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – Bethune-Cookman takes the Southern Division No. 1 Seed to the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference tournament as the Lady Wildcats meet Hampton in the quarterfinals Friday at 4 p.m. at the W.P. Hytche Athletic Center on the campus of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.
This is the second time in three years the Lady Wildcats (12-13) have come in as a No. 1 seed. They also did it in 2015 and advanced to their first-ever tournament championship match appearance.
Friday's winner will meet the Howard-North Carolina A&T winner in the semifinals Saturday at 3:30 p.m. Sunday's championship match is set for 12 p.m. and will be broadcast live on ESPNU and ESPN3.
B-CU UPDATE: The Lady Wildcats earned the No. 1 seed with a 9-1 division record and a tiebreaker over Florida A&M … B-CU is 12-37 lifetime in the tournament, but 3-2 in the
Brittany Williams era …A victory over Hampton would mark the first time in program history the Lady Wildcats have won a tournament game in three consecutive years … If B-CU makes it to the finals, it will mark the program's first non-losing season since 2004 …

Phalen Clark's 826 assists this season are the sixth highest in program history and she has already secured fourth on the all-time list with 1,431; she has three matches of 50 assists or over this season …
Alondra Bautista has had double-figure kill matches in her last five outings, three of those double-doubles …
Rechez Lindsay's 335 digs are the seventh best single-season total in program history ….
Alana Handy enters the tournament after setting the school record for digs with 33 in the regular season finale at North Carolina Central …
Jessica Emile scored a season high 11 points in that NCCU win …
Jai Chapman had a career-high 14 kills against NCCU as well.
SCOUTING HAMPTON: The Pirates (12-16) won three of their final four regular season matches … Morgan State won the tiebreaker because it beat second-seeded Howard … Reena Richardson led the team with 310 kills, followed by Lena Washington, a second team All MEAC selection with 246.
MEAC ALL ACADEMIC: Seven Lady Wildcats were named to MEAC All Academic Team. MEAC sophomore, junior and senior student-athletes with a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average, as well as transfer student-athletes who have been in residence at the institution for at least one year, are eligible for All-Academic accolades.
