DURHAM, N.C. – Diamante Lewis scored 17 points in Bethune-Cookman's 78-63 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference loss at North Carolina Central Saturday evening.
Del'vin Dickinson posted a double-double of 20 points and 11 rebounds, Rashaun Madison scored 17 and Patrick Cole posted a 13-point, 11-assist double as North Carolina Central (22-6 overall, 13-1 MEAC) clinched the regular season title.
The Eagles used a 14-0 run to pull away to a 45-28 lead with 15:28 remaining and led by as many as 20 on two occasions.
Bethune-Cookman (7-21,4-10) got it to 65-53 on a Lewis three-pointer with 4:54 remaining and 69-57 on a
Quinton Forrest jumper with 2:40 left but come no closer.
Brandon Tabb gave Bethune-Cookman an 18-17 first half lead, but the Eagles scored the next eight points and would go on to lead 28-23 at halftime.
Jeffrey Altidort came off the bench to score 14 for Bethune-Cookman, while Forrest had 10 points, five rebounds and four steals.
The Wildcats face North Carolina A&T Monday.
