@BCUWBB Handles Howard 75-54

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Kendra Cooper scored 22 points to lead four Bethune-Cookman players in double figures as the Lady Wildcats
downed Howard 75-54 in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference game Monday on Coach Cy Court in Historic Moore Gym.

Ashanti Hunt scored 16 points, Kailyn Williams had a near triple-double of 13 points, nine rebound and nine blocks, and Alea Godfrey
scored 12 to key the Lady Wildcats (12-9 overall, 8-1 MEAC) to a season-high 60.5 percent (26-43) shooting  night while holding Howard
(10-11,6-3) to 25.7 percent shooting.

Cooper, who made a season-high six three-pointers in 10 attempts and Williams each scored nine points in the third quarter as Bethune-Cookman
held the Bison to 3-16 shooting and built a 30-27 halftime lead into a 57-37 advantage. B-CU led by as many as 25 in the fourth.

Sydni Johnson and Jayla Myles each scored 11 for Howard.
Bethune-Cookman maintained its half-game lead over Hampton for the conference lead. The Lady Wildcats face Coppin State Saturday.

HEAD COACH VANESSA BLAIR LEWIS
"After the non-conference we had, it was great to see the girls get back in a rhythm. We are a good defensive team and the
unknown has been our offense."

"To see Alea play like that was a dream deferred. Injuries have sidelined her, but this year she's been able to contribute."

"It's tough to win a championship with five players. We have more depth. It's not hard for us to go to the bench."

KENDRA COOPER

"I was due. When did I start feeling it? After the sixth one."

"When we get defensive stops, it gives us more momentum."

ALEA GODFREY

"Felt like I was supposed to be doing that. I was able to contribute and it felt good to know my teammates had my back."

NOTES: B-CU has held opponents under 30 percent field goal shooting seven times this season. Kailyn Williams' nine blocked shots were a season high and moved her past UConn legend Breanna Stewart on the all-time Division I list ...Emily Williams had a career high eight assists...This was Godfrey's first game in double figures since scoring 12 at Hampton last year...This was Cooper's second 20 point night of the season and 15th of her career. Her 60 percent three-point matched her career best (min. 10 attempts) with the time she scored her career high of 31 against Georgia Southern last year...
The team's 19 assists matched a season high.
