WBB Game Day - Cooper

Women's Basketball

@BCUWBB Gameday: Florida A&M

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Bethune-Cookman concludes one of the best regular seasons of its Division I history Thursday when it hosts Florida A&M in its regular season finale Thursday at 5:30 p.m. on Coach Cy Court in Historic Moore Gym.

The Lady Wildcats (18-9 overall, 14-1 MEAC) are already assured of a second straight Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference regular season championship and the No. 1 seed for next week's conference tournament. They'll open tournament play Wednesday at noon against the winner of the No. 8 seed- No. 9 seed game.

A win Thursday would give B-CU its highest win total since the 1984-85 team went 21-5. Last year's team was 18-13.

Also, a victory would increase the winning streak to 10. That would be the longest streak for a B-CU team in its Division I history. It would also move the Lady Wildcats into a tie with Grambling State for the ninth longest active streak in Division I.

The Lady Wildcats have won six of the last eight meetings with Florida A&M (11-17,9-6) including a 64-41 decision in Tallahassee on Jan. 16.

B-CU UPDATE: Kailyn Williams has 103 blocks on the season; her third season with 100 blocks or more. She is 10 behind Jasmine Joyner for the season championship, but has a 435-427 advantage in the career category.  The senior is currently seventh on the all-time blocks list and 12 to pass Courtney Paris of Oklahoma … Williams is also 11th on the active rebounding list with 948 … Senior Kendra Cooper's 250 three-pointers are 18th among active players … Despite giving up 60 points at North Carolina A&T, the Lady Wildcats have moved up to 14th in the nation in scoring defense at 55.1 points per game.

FAMU UPDATE: The Rattlers are trying to hold off Norfolk State, North Carolina A&T and Coppin State for the No. 4 seeding .. They've won three in a row … Florence Ouattara is the leading scorer at 8.5 ppg and Shakerrya Morrison the leading rebounder at 9.6.
