DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Bethune-Cookman opens Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference tennis play Friday with both teams facing South Carolina State. The men's match is slated for a 10 a.m. with the women expected to begin at 1 p.m. at City Island Tennis Center.

MEN'S PREVIEW: The Bulldogs (6-7 overall, 2-0) have won the MEAC tournament 10 of the past 12 years…The teams last met in the 2016 MEAC tournament semifinals, with South Carolina State taking a 4-0 decision … The Wildcats (1-12,0-0) have lost their last three after beating Hampton on March 9 … Sophomore Jose Plazas leads the Wildcats with a 3-8 singles and has combined with Juan Ruiz for a 4-5 doubles mark.

WOMEN'S PREVIEW: Bethune-Cookman (5-8,0-0) has won the last two regular season meetings, but South Carolina State (2-8,2-0) downed the Lady Wildcats in the MEAC tournament semifinals last year … Mina Matsuba can become B-CU's all-time doubles leader with a victory; she's tied with Olga Rusilova with 65 … the senior is also undefeated (13-0) in MEAC regular season conference play .. She's won both her last two singles and doubles matches … Alejandra Vidal had a four-match winning streak stopped last Saturday at Stetson … Matea Roki is at .500 (6-6) at both singles and doubles … Saturday's match against Stetson was the first time all season B-CU had a complete team…The Lady Wildcats are 4-2 in one point matches this season.
